Hi,
I've looked through the internet and realize that either the
makers of PCANYWHERE and/or LINKSYS router are not adequately
addressing this serious problem-- PC ANywhere won't work easily with
static ip address.
Can someone please help me with this problem?
Here is our status>
We were running PC anywhere on a host system without any
problems but we knew we needed a static IP Address because the phone
company kept resetting our Dynamic DSL address.
Now we have PC ANywhere on ONLY ONE of the 2 computer at a
particular site. We followed the instructions at portforward.com and
enabled port 5631 and 5632...
We thought this would allow us to communicate to this
computer but instead when we connect to the static IP address ,we get
an error that it is unable to attach to specified device.
I disabled our firewall but in all honesty this was
working previously. I'm wondering if the static IP address in and of
itself is enough... HOw does it determine which of the computers has PC
Anywhere installed? Should I have it installed on both systems though
I don't intend to use it to communicate with one the systems?
YOur help in this matter is appreciated. JOe Burke
